I posted your comment Data-Dog but don't expect it to be there long.

i was thinking about the thousands upon thousands of posts that have been made on this site over the years and all the valuable information contained in them.
i was also thinking about all the years that this site was in existence before i stumbled upon it.. i wondered if from now on, if each person making a post on this site, put the words jw.org at the end of the title of their post or somewhere in the body of their post itself, if it would somehow drive those who are looking for jw.org to this site instead?.
for example "what's up with those new literature carts ?
Thanks for your input so far....maybe the moderator of this site would know if this would work.
The organization was started by religious zealots way back when and it has taken on a life of it's own. It's ways have been spread to others and its success lies in it's ability to fill (for some people) the basic human craving to have answers and certainty in an uncertain world. The answers don't always have to make complete sense so long as they are somewhat plausable but more importantly, mask the fears caused by uncertainty.
People get caught up for decades gladly spending their energies and giving support in return for the distraction from the realities they fear. Many of them stay with it for a lifetime but mostly it's a continuous Circus Carousel of people stepping on and stepping off at different intervals.
Many were placed on the Circus ride by their well meaning parents or were themselves attracted by the pretty ponies and bright lights of everlasting life in a perfect new world. Each rider pays his fare, clings on to the shiny brass pole and calls out to other potential riders still standing on the sidelines because they truly believe that being on the carousel is the best place to be.
In time, for one reason or another most start to see the chips in the paint and the dust collecting on the bright lights. They see oddities of the other riders and notice the crazed looks in the eyes of the garish ponies they are riding on. They begin to realize they are only going around in circles. They know they must step of the endlessly spinning ride or be flung off by those who have no time of riders who don't love the Carousel anymore....riders who remind them that they too are getting tired of the merry-go -round they are trapped on.
Sadly they acknowledge that their fare has long ago been spent by the man in charge of the ride and that he is only interested in finding new customers. They've been reaching for the brass ring for decades keeping themselves busy pulling new ones on board and getting them settled onto pretty ponies of their own. They understand now that although Carousels do serve a purpose in this world, they aren't meant to be ridden on for a lifetime. They also know they've been dazled by it's bright lights for years and are uncertain how to walk in a straight line of their own choosing. Despite this, they return to solid ground but must for a time put up with the spinning sensation that lingers from their years of circular thoughts and movement.
The Governing Body members are an older more heavily entrenched version of this. They have reached a level where there's no turning back. They are being carried along by the heavy momentum of an already moving machine. They keep changing the colored lights, freshening the paint and updating the music in an effort to make the ride make more sense or seem more interesting to the millions who are being carried along just as they are. One by one, former riders are leaving and fading into the crowd while new ones are climbing on board, neither one noticing as they pass eachother by.
i definitely look like a worldly person by jw standards... however i went to my old hall because they are remodelling and they are in the final p[hase.
it was not on purpose.
i had bnusiness on the street and happened to drive past.
I was glad to hear that your healing process is far enough along that you weren't too bothered by this totaly pathetic reaction to your presence. Experiences like this confirm that walking away from that group was the exact right thing for me to do.

"Who's going to attend the International Assembly?" JW.ORG
Would that work?
imagine a large open field filled with old dudes wearing headphones attached to metal detectors searching for.
anything of value in the middle of nowhere .
imagine these old dudes are the governing body of jehovah's witnesses .
I wonder what Russell would think if he came back today and saw that the organization he started has found so much "new light" that it now rejects 95% of what he taught.
He'd have to renounce his former understandings or be branded an Apostate to the very religion he founded.
Come to think of it, I wonder if anyone from the past will be resurecetd since apparently none of them was "worshiping in truth" and in fact were responsible for spreading what turns out were false teachings, to interested ones and for going so far as to punish and likely ruin the lives of anyone who disagreed with them.
but their views on blood are just plain weird!
meat has blood in it even if it's bled.
still eating meat means consuming blood.
The reason "wickedness continues to our day" is supposedly because Satan challenged God saying he could turn all mankind away from him so God needed to prove to his creation once and for all times that they couldn't manage without him. Then when things started taking shape, he brought the flood and wiped them all out, just to have it start all over again.
God isn't slow respecting his promises but wants all to attain righteousness. The longer he waits, the more people the JW's can save. Yet more and more people are being born every day that are obviously not paying any heed to JW's.
has anyone else seen the local congregation doing the usual field service push before the memorial?
i think its strange that we (nor our neighbors) havent seen them in the neighborhood yet.
only 2 weeks away and no territory blast?
No, we haven't seen them either. Last year they left an invite stuffed in our door with a note on it saying "We miss seeing you at the Hall".
This year, I'm going to tack up on the front door, a copy of the cover from the 1983 that shows all the old Bethelites looking heavanward and says "1914...The Generation That Won't Pass Away". I have a copy of it that shows the names and dates of the deaths or the elderly Bethelites on the cover. (I got it on this site)
bo juel jensen from norway was visiting new york 3 days ago .
he is an apostate activist and a child abuse survivor .. this is the video.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=odluwssd_qy.
I've heard a JW's refer to the new Bible as the "Grey Guide" as well as the "Silver Sword". They tee hee about this as if it's so clever.
this is an offshoot from the jws then and now thread...it made me wonder what exactly people find attractive about the cult today?
why are they joining?
any thoughts?.
If you build it, they will come .
No matter what kind of program you come up with or product you have to sell, there will always be a certain demographic of the public, even if only a small one, who will buy into it, especially if you keep at long enough and your members are your best customers and they market your product and program for free.
The Watchtower Society started out with religious fanatics who eventually began providing a pre packakaged program meant to appealed to those who liked or needed to be told what to do and who were made to feel safe warm and fuzzy by a substitute parental figure or "Sheeplike ones". It's a constant revolving door made up of those who have just arrived, those who are in and heavily involved in the recruiting work and those who are on their way out.
For as many years as they've been doing this and the billions of hours their members have spent recruiting, although constant, the success rate hasn't been very high, especially if God is supposedly backing their efforts.
Most of the congregations I knew of only saw growth from born-ins having children. I never saw a new one be recruited from the door to door work. The few new ones I did see, were brought in when a returning Df'd person dragged their newfound spouse back with them.
